Community Resource Event series planned

Mobile Safety-Net Team: A basic human needs initiative supported by the John R. Oishei Foundation has three meetings planned to serve the public.

Chamber Alliance presents Legislative Breakfast Forum

The Western New York Chamber Alliance, a partnership representing 27 chambers of commerce, is planning a legislative breakfast forum and you are invited and encouraged to attend.

WHAT: Breakfast forum in which New York State senators and assembly members have been invited to a question and answer session regarding topics including Medicaid reform, state pension reform, prevailing wages, workers comp, unfunded mandates, property tax cap, sales tax audits, and UB2020.

Shamrock Run winners announced

Laura Kelly, executive director of the Old First Ward Community Center provided the following report on the 2011 Shamrock Run:

Congratulations to this year’s winners of the Shamrock Run!

Top Female overall was Anga Bogdaneta in 30:36, the the Top Male overall was Chris Walters in 26:40.

The day was rainy and windy, but 3,700 runners turned out of a total of about 5,000 registered. Green face paint and great costumes brightened up the pack, with Grandit’s Bandits setting the top Caterpillar time of 1:09:58.

Good Neighbors Planning Alliance meeting planned for February 28th

The next meeting of the East Buffalo Good Neighbors Planning Alliance (GNPA) is Monday, February 28, 2011 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Lt. Col. Matt Urban Center, 1081 Broadway, Buffalo.

2011 Business Directory and Community Guide planned

The Greater South Buffalo Chamber of Commerce has begun production on a Business Directory and Community Guide, with distribution planned for January 2011.

The directory will feature listings and advertisements from area businesses, from industry and restaurants to retail outlets and entrepreneurs. Other listings will include nonprofits, schools,and organizations.

A feature section will highlight the neighborhoods of South Buffalo, The Valley, the Old First Ward, Kaisertown, East Lovejoy, Clinton Bailey, and Seneca-Babcock.

Spectacular weather for Expo & Irish Feis

The Greater South Buffalo Chamber of Commerce’s 9th annual Shop in Your Neighborhood Expo was held Saturday, September 11th in Cazenovia Park, giving hundreds of visitors the opportunity to meet with local businesses and organizations in a beautiful, outdoor setting.

South Buffalo Italian Festival planned for Sunday, August 15th

The sixth annual South Buffalo Italian Festival, planned for Sunday, August 15, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., will be held on the lawn by South Park Lake, near the Botanical Gardens. Everyone is invited and admission is free.
The festival will feature food by area restaurants, including Francesca’s, Mineo’s, the Wayside, DiTondo’s, Caz Coffee Café, and Ilio DiPaolo’s. Other refreshments will also be available, including Italian beer and wine.

The 9th annual 'Shop in Your Neighborhood' EXPO is planned for Saturday, September 11, 2010 in Cazenovia Park from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Businesses, nonprofits, organizations, schools and entrepreneurs are invited to get a booth at the EXPO to share information about their products and services with hundreds of visitors. The EXPO is a unique, outdoor event held in conjunction with Goin' South's IRISH FEIS, a day-long festival of live Irish music and dance.
