Sock Hop and Book Signing Planned of Oct. 23

A 1950's "Sox Hop" is planned for Sunday, October 23, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Cazenovia Park Casino building.

Everyone is invited. The event is free.

There will be cider, cookies, fun, and music by "DJ Johnny K."

Author and speaker Nancy Lee Canfield will be signing copies of her book, "A Rose for My Mother."

Entrepreneurial Assistance Program begins

The Entrepreneurial Assistance Program (EAP), a business training class for those starting a business or developing an existing business, is beginning Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 2189 Seneca Street in South Buffalo.

The 60-hour EAP class will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Business professionals will cover business plan development, marketing, legal issues, insurance, intellectual law, online marketing/websites, cash flow, income statements, balance sheets, social media, and other important aspects of running a successful business.

SOUTH BUFFALO WELCOMES ONE-ACT PLAY BY NATIVE SON

Autumn in Buffalo is traditionally the kick off of the theater season and South Buffalo is no exception.

On Saturday, September 17, Dog Ears Bookstore and Literary Arts Center will present “My Life in the Basement,” a one-act, one-man comedy written and by John Kennedy “Circ” Kane. The event will take place at 7:30 pm in the Buffalo Irish Center at 245 Abbott Road.

Networking group invites your participation

A new chamber networking group is now meeting every other Tuesday morning from 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. at the Green Valley Grill on Seneca Street.

The Greater South Buffalo Chamber of Commerce is planning the annual 'Shop in Your Neighborhood' Expo on Saturday, September 10th, 2011.

The Expo is held in conjunction with Goin' South's Irish Feis, a day-long celebration of live Irish music, dance, and cultural festivities.

A trade show for the business, education, and nonprofit communities, the Expo runs concurrent with the Irish Feis. Booth space is provided from 1-5 p.m.

South Buffalo Italian Festival is Sunday, August 21st near Botanical Gardens

South Buffalo Italian Festival planned for Sunday, August 21

The seventh annual South Buffalo Italian Festival is planned for Sunday, August 21, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the lawn near the Botanical Gardens. Everyone is invited to attend and admission is free.
The festival will feature food by DiTondo’s, Francesca’s, Mineo’s, the Wayside, Caz Coffee Café & KupKates, Ilio DiPaolo’s, and Leo’s Pizzeria. Other refreshments will also be available, including kettle corn and Italian beer and wine.
