The University at Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center hosting Event

Eve Educational Opportunity Program Informational Session on Thursday, January 24, from 6-8 pm for individuals who are considering attending college at the University at Buffalo.
EOC offers Tuition-Free GED day and evening classes for those interested in obtaining their GED. Contact the EOC Admissions office at 849-6727 for more information.
Winner of the Old 1st Ward Scholastic Chess Tournament

4th- 6th grade section: 1st place: Scot Nowak, 6th grader from Mary Queen of Angels. 2nd place: Alexander Hill, 4th grader from So. Bflo. Charter School. Top female award: Patricia Hill, 6th grader from Waterfront School.
Winners from K-3 section are: First place: Devon Walsh, 3rd grader from Trinity Catholic Academy, 2nd Place- James Ely, 2nd grader from Our Lady of Victory & Top Female Award - Cadance Shaw, 2nd grader from Buffalo Public School #33.

Brown would like to invite you to share your thoughts on Buffalo's housing, infrastructure, economic development, and human service needs; and to assist the Mayor's Office of Strategic Planning in preparing a plan to use HUD entitlement funding address these needs over the next five years.

Beginners Scholastic Holiday Chess Tournament
The Old First Ward Community Center has established the Irish Buffalos Scholastic Chess Club for students in grades 1 to 9th, who meet every Friday at 62 Republic Street from 4 to 5:30pm.

United States Chess Federation rules and chess lessons are provided by the Old First Ward Community Center, The Willie Hutch Jones Sports Clinics, The Archangel 8 Chess Academy and Buffalo Fire Commissioner - Garnell W. Whitfield Jr.
Desperate Need for Children's Clothing

They also need sizes 5,6,7 & 8 clothing (mostly Boys). You can drop off donations Monday- Friday 9am-4pm and Saturday 9am- 12 at Seneca St.

Buffalo Adore opens on Abbott Road

Proprietor Andrea Dacey opened the retail store in October and is working with dozens of artists. The shop is open Tuesday through Sunday. For more information, call 602-8503.

Hobby shop opens on Seneca Street

A new hobby shop, Section 8 Hobbies, has opened at 2234 Seneca Street in South Buffalo. The shop sells model kits, both new and vintage, model rocketry, tools, paints, supplies, kites, and lots of detail accessories.
“I started out with my father doing model trains when I was seven or eight years old,†says proprietor Justen Hanna, who lives above the shop with his wife and son.
